I have been a dancer most of my life and hold a BFA in dance from Cornish college of the Arts. I have taught and performed dance in both Seattle and New York City.
I discovered the Alexander Technique in 1990 while living in New York City. A rigorous schedule of dance classes, rehearsing, teaching dance, and waiting tables was taking a toll on my body. I had many aches and pains as well as chronic back problems. The Alexander Technique was life changing for me. I decided to train as a teacher.
I received my teacher certification in 2003 from the Alexander Technique School of New England with Missy Vineyard as director. After completing my training, I moved back to my home town of Seattle and started my own family with my partner. We have two beautiful young children.
I really enjoy teaching and sharing this wonderful technique with all kinds of people from all walks of life.
The Technique's many benefits for actors include minimized tension, centeredness, vocal relaxation, and responsiveness, mind/body connection and about an inch and a half of additional height.- Kevin Kline, actor
The Alexander Technique is the study of how we use our whole selves, mind and body together, moment by moment in our lives. We study our selves at rest, in movement, while speaking or singing or playing an instrument or doing any kind of task or activity. Through a process of re-directing our mind and attention, we develop the ability to move with ease and grace. Old patterns of tension and pain begin to fall away as we develop new skillful ways of thinking and moving.
Below, is Chris Mincer's video that I find to be a good introduction to the Alexander Technique. This will also give you some idea of what a lesson is like.

I find the Alexander Technique very helpful in my work. Things happen without you trying. They get to be light and relaxed.- John Cleese, comedian and actor
